Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited ("Jio", "we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal data. This Privacy Policy ("Policy") describes how we collect, use, store, share, and protect personal information in connection with the JioHome Smart Society Program.
This Policy applies to all users who register, enrol, or interact with the JioHome Smart Society Program through any Jio platform, application, or service. It should be read alongside our Terms & Conditions.
For the purposes of this Policy, "personal data" means any information that identifies or can identify you as an individual, as defined under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
Data We Collect
We collect the following categories of personal data:

- Full name
- Registered mobile number
- JioID / username
- Date of birth (where provided)
- Gender (where provided)
- Profile photograph (where provided)
2.2 Contact & Address Data
- Residential address
- Society / building name and address
- Flat / unit number
- Email address (where provided)
- PIN code
2.3 Program & Transaction Data
- Enrolment details and enrolment date
- Payment transaction records (joining fee)
- Plan and recharge history
- Benefits claimed and redemption records
- Account activity and usage logs
2.4 Device & Technical Data
- IP address
- Device type and model
- Operating system and browser type
- Session data and access timestamps
- Cookie and tracking data (see our Cookie Policy)
2.5 Communications Data
- Support queries and correspondence
- Feedback and survey responses
- Notifications and communication preferences
How We Use Your Data
We use your personal data for the following purposes:

Legal Basis for Processing
We process your personal data on the following legal bases as recognised under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023:
- Consent: Where you have provided explicit consent, such as at the time of JioID registration or Program enrolment.
- Contractual Necessity: Where processing is necessary to perform our obligations under these Terms & Conditions.
- Legal Obligation: Where processing is required to comply with applicable laws, regulations, or court orders.
- Legitimate Interests: Where processing is necessary for Jio's legitimate business interests, such as fraud prevention and service improvement, provided these interests are not overridden by your rights.
Data Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell your personal data. We may share your data in the following circumstances:
5.1 Within Jio Group
Your data may be shared with Reliance Jio group entities solely for the purpose of administering the Program and delivering associated services.
5.2 Third-Party Service Providers
We may share data with trusted third-party service providers who assist in operating the Program, including:
- Payment gateway providers for processing the joining fee
- Google LLC, for delivery of Google Gemini and Cloud Storage benefits
- Technology and infrastructure partners supporting platform operations
- Customer support service providers
All third-party service providers are contractually obligated to handle your data securely and solely for the specified purpose.
5.3 Legal & Regulatory Disclosure
We may disclose your data when required by law, court order, governmental authority, or regulatory body, including TRAI and other Indian regulatory authorities.
5.4 Business Transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred to the relevant successor entity, subject to equivalent data protection obligations.
Data Retention
We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this Policy, or as required by applicable law:
- Account data: Retained for the duration of your active account plus a reasonable period thereafter for legal and compliance purposes.
- Transaction records: Retained for a minimum of 5 years as required under applicable financial and tax regulations.
- Program enrolment data: Retained for the duration of the Program validity period plus applicable statutory periods.
- Support communications: Retained for up to 3 years from the date of the last communication.
Upon expiry of the applicable retention period, your data will be securely deleted or anonymised.
Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, destruction, or alteration. These include:
- Encryption of data in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest
- Access controls and authentication protocols
- Regular security assessments and audits
- Employee training on data protection and privacy
- Incident response procedures for data breaches
In the event of a personal data breach that is likely to result in a risk to your rights, we will notify the relevant authorities and, where required, affected individuals in accordance with the DPDP Act, 2023.
Your Rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and applicable Indian law, you have the following rights with respect to your personal data:

Children's Privacy
The JioHome Smart Society Program is intended for use by adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 18. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a minor, please contact us immediately at support@jiogate.ril.com and we will take prompt steps to delete such data.
Third-Party Links & Services
The Program includes third-party benefits (such as Google Gemini and Google Cloud Storage) that are governed by the respective third parties' own privacy policies and terms of service. Jio is not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to review their policies before using their services.
DPDP Act, 2023 Compliance
Jio is committed to compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and rules framed thereunder. In accordance with the DPDP Act:
- We process personal data only for lawful purposes with your explicit consent or on other valid legal grounds.
- We maintain data accuracy and take reasonable steps to ensure the completeness and accuracy of personal data.
- We implement appropriate safeguards to prevent personal data breaches.
- We provide you with a clear and accessible mechanism to exercise your data protection rights.

Unresolved grievances may be escalated to the Data Protection Board of India once established under the DPDP Act.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will be revised accordingly. Material changes will be communicated through your registered contact details or via Jio's official channels. Your continued use of the Program after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.
